Music. Volunteering. Racing. Cheering. Swimming. Food. Friends. And hopefully a finish line.

Mission Briefing

For reasons still under investigation, the City of Sandusky appears to have organized an entire weekend of activities around the Dudes in Driveways Ironman 70.3 Relay Team.

City officials claim the timing is purely coincidental. We remain unconvinced.

Join Greg, Jonathan, and Jim as Team Dudes in Driveways takes on the 2026 Ironman 70.3 Ohio Relay. Whether you join us for one event or the entire weekend, this is shaping up to be one of the biggest Dudes gatherings of the year.

What Is This Weekend?

An Ironman 70.3 consists of a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run for a total of 70.3 miles.

In the relay division, three teammates split the race. Greg handles the swim, Jonathan takes on the bike course, and Jim brings it home on the run.

This is one of our few Dudes in Driveways events where spouses, partners, kids, friends, neighbors, and anyone else who wants to cheer are encouraged to join us.

Weekend Schedule

  • 🎸 Thursday, July 16: Mallrats Concert
  • 🙋 Saturday, July 18: Volunteer Opportunity
  • 🏊🚴🏃 Sunday, July 19: Ironman 70.3 Ohio Relay
  • 🍻 Sunday, July 19: Recovery Pool Party

Thursday: Mallrats at the Pier

  • Event: Mallrats Concert
  • Time: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Meetup: GoodTime Boat, top floor
  • Concert Area: Jackson Street Pier

We’ll kick off the weekend by meeting on the top floor of the GoodTime Boat before finding a spot at Jackson Street Pier to listen to Mallrats.

The GoodTime usually has a bar on the first deck, and in true Dudes fashion, one of our guys knows the guy who owns the boat.

Saturday: Volunteer Opportunity

Several members of the CCYT family will be volunteering at Ironman check-in and bike racking on Saturday before race day.

Volunteers help athletes check in, organize bikes in transition, and get a behind-the-scenes look at one of the biggest events in Sandusky.

It's a great family-friendly way to be part of the weekend even if you're not racing. If you're interested, let Greg know and additional details will be shared as they become available.

Sunday Race Day: Cheer, Wander, Repeat

Race morning starts at Jackson Street Pier for the swim. After the swim start, most people will move around the Chesapeake Lofts area to cheer Greg coming out of the water and watch Jonathan head out on the bike.

We’ll also have an informal Dudes HQ near Washington Park, across from the Merry-Go-Round Museum. Look for the Dudes in Driveways sign, chairs, coolers, blankets, and whatever else seemed like a good idea at 5:00 in the morning.

  • 6:30 AM: Swim Start
  • ~7:15 AM: Greg exits the water
  • ~11:00 AM: Jonathan returns from the bike
  • ~1:00 PM: Team Finish

Times are estimates. Ironman, Lake Erie, and middle-aged athletic performance may all affect the schedule.

Cheer loudly. Take pictures. Ring cowbells enthusiastically. Avoid telling the athletes they “look tired.”

The Relay Team

  • Team: Dudes in Driveways
  • 🏊 Greg: Responsible for not drowning
  • 🚴 Jonathan: Responsible for 56 miles of questionable decisions
  • 🏃 Jim: Responsible for bringing this thing home

Together, Team Dudes in Driveways will attempt to travel 70.3 miles while making it look significantly easier on the website than it will feel in real life.

Sunday Recovery Pool Party

  • When: Sunday, July 19 at 4:00 PM
  • Location: Jonathan and Heather’s House
  • Address: 2003 Huron Avery Rd.

After the finish line, we’ll shift into recovery mode with a pool party, food, drinks, and a full review of questionable athletic choices.

Join Us

Come for the concert, volunteer, cheer on race day, join the recovery party, or jump into the whole weekend.
